Yes you've read that correctly, Murray wants to be a ghost in Ghostbusters III:“I’ll come back in Ghostbusters III only if I get to be a ghost. I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.”
This news sucks. I don't know about any of you out there, but Venkman is my favorite ghostbuster. He brings the humour and charm to the team. I want to see all four original Ghostbusters, together, doing what makes them feel good...busting ghosts!

If Venkman got killed off during an epic battle near the end, then that'd be cool. It could result in his old age. That could set up a forth film where the team is drifting apart due to Venkman's death and the teams inability to bust ghosts due to their age, so a new team is set up, younger faster and stronger.
Anyway, that's my take on it, what's yours?
