I'll be right back!

Last few weeks have been pretty bare in terms of posting news and the reason for that is, I'm moving out, so I've been quite busy dealing with that. I should have the Internet back up and running within the next 10 days or so.

So until then friends, I'll BRB!

How much does Hugo Weaving know about the Transformers movies? Very little!

You'd think after voicing Megatron for two Transformers films, Hugo Weaving would know something about the franchise he's giving his voice to, but according to Weaving, he doesn't know much about the films at all:

As the voice of Megatron, one imagines how into the series Weaving is, but just how deeply immersed he is becomes clear when discussing the next installment.

"Oh no," he barks with a laugh. "They're not making Transformers III, are they?" Given that Transformers II made $800 million, they're probably going to have to.

"[Director] Michael Bay talks to me on the phone. I've never met him. We were doing the voice for the second one and I still hadn't seen the first one. I still didn't really know who the characters were and I didn't know what anything was. It's a voice job, for sure, and people assume I've spent my life working on it, but I really know so little about it."

I'm not surprised that Weaving doesn't know a whole lot, the guy properly had a page or two of dialogue all together. For something he might of spent the day recording, no wonder he doesn't know much about the movies.

The Wolfman finishes 3rd

I got to check out The Wolfman over this past weekend, and while it was nowhere near perfect, I still enjoyed the hell out of it. The Wolfman design looked amazing, the sets and cinematography were great and I enjoyed Anthony Hopkins performance very much. The film did drag in certain places and the characters didn't grab me emotionally. This is what happens when a film is pushed back a ton of times, footage is removed and re-shoots go down.

Box Office results have come out for this past weekend and The Wolfman(30mil) has been beaten out by none other then Valentine's Day(51mil), starring such talents as Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Alba. Granted it was Valentine's Day over the weekend, but come'on, these numbers are ridiculous. For shame people, for shame!

Murray wants to be a ghost in Ghostbusters 3-FUCK!

Yes you've read that correctly, Murray wants to be a ghost in Ghostbusters III:

“I’ll come back in Ghostbusters III only if I get to be a ghost. I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.”

This news sucks. I don't know about any of you out there, but Venkman is my favorite ghostbuster. He brings the humour and charm to the team. I want to see all four original Ghostbusters, together, doing what makes them feel good...busting ghosts!

If Venkman got killed off during an epic battle near the end, then that'd be cool. It could result in his old age. That could set up a forth film where the team is drifting apart due to Venkman's death and the teams inability to bust ghosts due to their age, so a new team is set up, younger faster and stronger.

Anyway, that's my take on it, what's yours?

Fast and Furious 5 gets a title and release date

A number of years back I was introduced to a movie which blew my socks off and changed my opinion on one of Hollywood's overlooked actors, the film was The Fast And The Furious and the actor was Vin Diesel, who exploded on to the screen at over 100 mph. I saw this film on opening day out of pure interest and it won me over. It also got me into a conversation with a random stranger about how cool the movie really was. The franchise continued on with 2 Fast 2 Furious, Tokyo Drift and Fast And Furious, which reunited the main cast from the first film.
Expect to reave your engines up again as a 5th installment is being planned to hit in 2011. The new film will be titled, Fast Five, which reunites Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. It's rumored we will see them on the run from the law.

This is exciting news. All we need now is a sequel to the Riddick movies as well as his rumoured return to the xXx franchise and I may be able to finally forgive Vin Diesel for the career move that was The Pacifier.

Cop Out: Red band trailer

I never like green band trailers for films that are rated R. Red band trailers show off the true nature of what we could be in for. The green band trailer for Cop Out was alright, didn't show what we needed to see, but lucky for us, the red band trailer for Cop Out has hit and you may watch it by clicking here.

I rarely laugh at much trailers, but this one cracked me up, especially when Tracy Morgan punched the kid in the nuts. Morgan steals the show, while Willis seems to be playing the straight guy of the two.

I'm much looking forward to Cop Out, which hits theaters 26 of February.

82nd Oscar nomination thoughts

Do you smell that? I do...I smells like the Oscars are getting close and when they get close, the nominations like to pop up. I shall posts the nominations below, followed by my thoughts on each category.

BEST PICTURE:
Avatar
The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air

Two films that I didn't expect to make it into this category, District 9 and Up. I'm more surprised by Up because it's already been nominated for animated feature film. I don't think Avatar deserves the win, but it's nice to see it there as well as Inglorious Basterds. I'd like to see Up or District 9 grab this one.

DIRECTING:
Kathryn Bigelow - The Hurt Locker
James Cameron - Avatar
Lee Daniels - Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire
Jason Reitman - Up in the Air
Quentin Tarantino - Inglourious Basterds

This is another nice and sweat category that has included more main stream films, then artsy crap. I love Reitman, but I didn't like Up in the Air. This is where I wouldn't mind seeing Avatar win, but to honest, Kathryn Bigelow or Tarantino deserve to walk away with the Oscar.

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE:
Jeff Bridges - Crazy Heart
George Clooney - Up in the Air
Colin Firth - A Single Man
Morgan Freeman - Invictus
Jeremy Renner - The Hurt Locker

I've been hearing some nice things about Colin Firth in A Single Man, but I haven't seen it. I'm going for Jeremy Renner, who gave a fantastic performance in The Hurt Locker.

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE:
Sandra Bullock - The Blind Side
Helen Mirren - The Last Station
Carey Mulligan - An Education
Gabourey Sidibe - Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire
Meryl Streep - Julie & Julia

I haven't seen any film from this category, so color me speechless.

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE:
Matt Damon - Invictus
Woody Harrelson - The Messenger
Christopher Plummer - The Last Station
Stanley Tucci - The Lovely Bones
Christoph Waltz - Inglourious Basterds

Christoph Waltz, nuff said!

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE:
Penelope Cruz - Nine
Vera Farmiga - Up in the Air
Maggie Gyllenhaal - Crazy Heart
Anna Kendrick - Up in the Air
Mo’Nique - Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire

Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Up in the Air, I did enjoy Anna Kendrick's performance very much and her banter with Clooney with most entertaining. I'm rooting for this young actress.

ANIMATED FEATURE FILM:
Coraline
Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Princess and the Frog
The Secret of the Kells
Up

I know deep down that Up will win this and I don't have a problem with that, but behind tit all, I want Fantastic Mr. Fox to win.

There are a few more categories, but these are the main ones I'm interested in talking about.

A Smurf is leaked!

I was never watched The Smurfs as a kid. The only real exposure to the show was during an episode of Family Guy where The Smurfs made an appearance.

The image above is a leak, so that's why the picture of the cute little guy is not in color.

Anywho, if your a Smurf fan, what do you think of the film design?

I shall leave you with a distrubing, but yet funny video.

Captain America to begin during WWII

I've never really read much of the Captain America comic books. Maybe it's because he is such a patriotic character for a country I'm not from is the reason why I have no real interest in him. Still, that doesn't mean I won't like the movie. Iron Man is another character I never really warmed up to in the comics, but I LOVED the film.

The director of The First Avenger: Captain America, Joe Johntson gave us a little update on the flick:

"We're in prep," Johnston says. "Rick Heinrichs is production-designing and we're set up down in Manhattan Beach [California]. It's the part of the process that I love the most," he enthuses. "We have eight or ten really talented artists, and we all just sit around all day and draw pictures and say, 'Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we could do this?' It's that phase of the production where money doesn't matter: ‘Let's put all the greatest stuff up on the wall and [then later] see what we can afford.'" The film, he says at this early stage, will begin "in 1942, 1943" during World War II. "The stuff in the ’60s and ’70s [comic books] we're sort of avoiding. We're going back to the ’40s, and then forward to what they're doing with Captain America now

It's going to be pretty neat seeing the character of Captain America dealing with Nazis and all that stuff, to flashing forward to now. It'll be interesting an character study to see how a man views the world of today compared to the 1940's.

Kevin Smith hits Warner Bros

Kevin Smith's next project is a comedy-drama called Hit Somebody. As far as I know, the plot is about a guy named Buddy who wants to be a great hockey player, but has no real talent on the ice. The only thing Buddy is really good at, is hitting people.

Warner Bros hired Smith to direct Cop Out, Starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, which will be released in a few months. Due to working with the studio, WB will be the first to get the pitch on Hit Somebody.

I'm really hoping WB do pick this project up. Smith seems pretty damn excited when he talks about Hit Someday or even his passion for hockey in general on Smodcast.
