Scott Pilgrim vs the world teaser trailer

This is it, the trailer I've been waiting to see most for this year. It's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

I think this trailer is AWESOME. I love the all ''pows'' ''whips'' and ''kpoks'' popping up as the action takes place. As for the action, it looks over the top insane. I first had doubts about Cera playing Scott, but he seems to fit into the role very well judging from the trailer.

Scott Pilgrim: ''Edgar Wright has made a classic''

I just finished reading Scott Pilgrim Volume 5 and so far these comic books have been flat out amazing. Go to your local book/comic book store now to pick up your awesome copy. If you have no money or you're just too damn lazy to grab the greatness, then you can wait for the movie to hit.

Greg ''I'm a lucky bastard'' Mottola(director of Superbad) got to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World and he is glowing about it:

"Be very jealous of me. I’ve seen an entire cut of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD. Edgar Wright has made a classic (again)! It’s amazing. … I would say that Scott Pilgrim is the wittiest action movie you’ll ever see, but that’s just the half of it. … Needless to say, Michael Cera is perfect. In fact, every single performance is incredible. You’ve got something special to look forward to. … The filmmaking is so insanely good, I retired halfway through the movie. (looking forward to the pension checks, tho)"

A smile has been slapped across my face as the positive energy circles my room with Mottola's words. I hope we get to see some footage soon. I'm really excited to see how the comic book is translated onto film.

Reitman Calls Scott Pilgrim vs. The World A "Game Changer."

Jason Reitman had a lot of wonderful things to say about Edgar Wright's adaptation of Bryan O'Malley's acclaimed graphic novel series ''Scott Pilgrim." He was in London promoting his film "Up In The Air," and he got a chance to see thirty minutes of the film while he was there. Here's what he had to say via his Twitter:

"It is a game changer for Edgar and the genre. It moves the speed of light and carries more unadulterated joy than Ive seen in recent cinema.

SP does what everyone our age has been dreaming about: achieves the first all encompassing film of the joystick generation.

I'm in awe of the sheer control in the filmmaking. It feels like a "Matrix" for love and how willing we are to fight for it.

If I had a movie coming out next year, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it. Hats off my friend. Can't get it out of my head."

If you're wondering what the hell Scott Pilgrim is, here's a synopsis:

"Scott Pilgrim's life is so awesome. He's 23 years old, in a rock band, "between jobs," and dating a cute high school girl. Everything's fantastic until a seriously mind-blowing, dangerously fashionable, roller blading delivery girl named Ramona Flowers starts cruising through his dreams and sailing by him at parties. But the path to Ms. Flowers isn't covered in rose petals. Ramona's seven evil exes stand between Scott and true happiness. Can Scott beat the bad guys and get the girl without turning his precious little life upside-down?"

Sounds pretty awesome, right? Now those are overwhelmingly positive words from Reitman. Especially the comment about the film being "the first all encompassing film of the joystick generation" and "a Matrix for love." Even though he is very good friend's with Edgar Wright, I do believe his words are genuine and it just makes me even more excited for this film. Wright seems to be the perfect director to bring this series to the big screen and so far it sounds like it was the right match. Every piece of information and set photo support this claim.

I was introduced to the series over the summer and I fell in love with it after five minutes of reading the first volume. The books just have a unique charm and fun dialogue. It's hilarious, action packed, the characters are interesting and well developed, and O'Malley makes you really care about what happens with these characters and their relationships with each other. There's really something for everyone in these books. If you haven't had a chance to check out this amazing series, I highly suggest picking up all five volumes as soon as you can.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is due out sometime in 2010 and is directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz). The film features an ensemble cast and stars Michael Cera (Superbad) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Death Proof, Sky High). Keep checking back for further updates for this highly anticipated comic adaptation.

And if anyone is interested in the production of the film, check out Edgar Wright's blog, Edgar Wright Here, which features plenty of set photos and video blogs of the production:

31 days of Horror: Shaun Of The Dead (Day 20)

Shaun Of The Dead(2004)
Directed by Edgar Wright
Starring-Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield, Lucy Davis and Dylan Moran

If you haven't seen Shaun Of The Dead, then I suggest you leave the Internet forever or you'll suffer abuse like no other. It's like eating, it's mandatory. Shaun Of The Dead was inspired by an episode from Spaced, which had the same team behind it, called ''Art''. In this episode, the character Tim(Pegg) plays Resident Evil, but later on hallucinates that he fighting off real Zombies. If you're a fan of Shaun Of The Dead, then pick up Spaced, it's just a good.

The film is about a man named Shaun who lives a very boring, slackish life. His girlfriend leaves him due to a very displeasing relationship. Once a Zombie pandemic breaks out, Tim wakes and realizes he needs to take action and become the hero. Tim must save his Mother, girlfriend and get to The Winchester before time runs out.

Alot of the comedy comes from the editing choices, which goes to show how effect editing can play in a film. There's a lot witty pop culture references that would make any Zombie fanboy pleased. Of course this wouldn't be a Zombie flick without it's fair share of gore. Some scenes are gory such as the girl in the garden going through a pipe, but plays off humorous.

Shaun Of The Dead is made from special recipes mixed together that creates this perfect meal that everyone needs to try. So sink your teeth in and give it a watch.

Spunky Trivia:
  • The game that Shaun and Ed are playing though out the film is Timesplitters 2.
  • Shaun works at Foree Electronics, which is named after the actor, Ken Foree who starred in Dawn Of The Dead.
  • On the TV, it mentions the disease was spread from rage infected monkeys. This is a homage to 28 Days Later, another British Zombie flick.
  • Shaun tells Ed to not use the word Zombie. This is an homage to all the Romero's flick's because they never used the word ''Zombie'' in them.
  • The Wilhelm Scream can be heard before the solders come to the rescue.
  • Shaun's last name is Riley.
  • When Ed sees the girl in the garden, he asks ''What's up with her eyes?''. This is a quote from The Evil Dead.
