Kick-Ass gets ass-kicked!

The Box Office numbers are in and Kick-Ass hits second place with 19mil. That's not good. First place goes to How To Train Your Dragon, bringing in 20mil. Not a huge difference between the two, but Dragon has been out for a month now.

I know kids flicks always take in more money, but Kick-Ass was getting a great word of mouth for the past couple of weeks and should of taken in 30mil or more. Iron Man 2 is released at the end of this month, so I hope Kick-Ass can take in more money before then, because if not, we won't be seeing a sequel.

Kick-Ass review

Kick-Ass
Directed by Matthew Vaughn
Starring: Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz, Nicolas Cage and Mark Strong

Plot

Dave Lizewski is just an average kid who glides through life. As a huge comic book fan, Dave one day he asks himself why hasn't anyone dawned a costume to save people. Dave decides to be the one to battle crime on the streets by dressing up in a wet suit and calling himself Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass realizes soon enough that he's not the only superhero in town as he befriends Big Daddy, Hit Girl and Red Mist.

Good

I have so much great things to say about this film. It's funny, witty, insane, violent, but at the same time you care about these characters. This works because we are the Kick-Ass character. At some point we wish we could do a lot more than just stand around doing nothing as people get mugged, shot, stabbed etc. This makes us click with this character right away.

While our protagonist has the name ''Kick-Ass'', he doesn't do the most of the ass kicking. Hit-Girl does. She is a young kid who swears, kills and is a total badass who steals the show. One person who surprised be a lot was Nic Cage. He was fantastic and owned his role. Not only was he funny, the guy has one scene in particular where he just comes off as a total brute.

Strong and Plasse worked off each other very well. Every scene they had came off hilarious. What can I say, the casting was perfect and not one person let me down in their role. Everyone put 110% into it.

Bad

I'm really reaching deep into the barrel to find something I didn't like about this. The only thing that bugged me was the character pacing. While each character gets their moment to shine, some people disappear for awhile and you forget all about them. But like I said, that's reaching deep.

Overall

This is one hell of a fun film that shouldn't be missed by you or anyone else. The reason why we go to the movies is to be entertained and Kick-Ass is full blown entertainment.

Score
9/10

Cop out and Hit-Girl trailers

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past couple of days. I've been busy over the holidays and all that good stuff. I missed out in posting two trailers that I wanted to talk about. First one is the new red band trailer for Kick-Ass, featuring Hit-Girl.

I gotta say, I LOVE this trailer. Who thought seeing a 10 year
old kicking ass, and throwing out F-bombs would be so much fun.
Nic Cage also comes off great, which he needs right now.

Click here to watch the trailer for Cop Out.
I'm really holding out for the red band trailer for Cop Out.
This trailer is too tame and you only get hints of the buddy
relationship between Morgan and Willis. This trailer really
really lets Morgan and Scott shine over anything else.

Posters for Alice in Wonderland & Kickass

Alice In Wonderland-I'm not a huge Tim Burton fan, but the more I see from Alice In Wonderland the more excited I am to seeing it. The character designs look great and Burton's style seems to fit into this bizarre world.

Kick-Ass-Next we continue to pour more Kick-Ass your way with this new poster that is much better than the last few we got a couple of days ago.

Kick-ass teaser trailer

I love the opening to this trailer, really sets the tone of how funny, different and entertaining this may be. The teaser is green band, but we still get an idea of what we're in for. Hopefully a red band trailer down the line soon.

What do you think of this teaser trailer? You like it? Hate it? Or you indifferent about the whole thing?

Kick-Ass is directed by Matthew Vaughn and will star Aaron Johnson, Nic Cage, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Release date: April 16 2010.

Kick-Ass posters

Posters for Kick-Ass have finally hit the web and I want all four so I can place them together so they will spell out the word ''Kick-Ass''. Also these posters seem to channel that Spider-Man 2 poster where Peter is looking over the city scape.

Dave Lizewski is a regular guy with no powers who wants to be a Superhero. When he suites up for the first time he almost dies.
Hit-Girl is a 11 year old assassin who assists Kick-Ass.
Big Daddy is the father of Hit-Girl. He wants revenge for his wife's death.
Red Mist becomes Kick-Ass's patner after Kick-Ass makes his name on the scene.

Kick-Ass clips: Watch them NOW!

You guys need to go to Comic Book Movie and watch the Kick-Ass clips posted there. They may be bootleg, but it's better then nothing. The clips are absolutely fantastic and no words can describe how pumped I am to this film. Best line ''How come everyone wants to be Paris Hilton but no one want's to be Spider-Man?'' ''She has like no tits''. Hahaha.

Kick-Ass unmasked!

Above is actor Aaron Johnson(who I only recognize as Charlie Chaplin from Shanghai Knights), who will be playing the vigilante called, Kiss-Ass.

Dave Lizewski is a kid growing up in a rundown suburb of America, he isn’t a gamer, he isn’t a jock, he isn’t a mathlete, he’s just a regular kid. When he is not hanging out at the local comic store with his friends Todd and Marty, he is fantasising about his school teacher and Katie Deauxma, the class hottie. The only thing that is unusual about Dave is that about a year ago his Mother died. But somehow through this blend of normality, teenage angst and irritation at being continually mugged, Dave makes the decision to become a superhero’ KICK ASS! Dave’s first foray into being a Superhero results in him being stabbed and run over. When Dave recovers he realises he can’t walk away from being a hero, and when he successfully steps in on a mugging he brings himself to the attention of the US media and Frank D’Amico could this be the guy who knicked his coke? As Dave gets sucked into the dark world of vigilante crime fighting he gains a sidekick named ‘Red Mist’.

I haven't read any of the comics, but I hope so soon. The film itself sounds promising with Matthew Vaughn directing, Brad Pitt and John Romita Jr producing and Mark Miller writing.

Images galore!

My mouse broke the other day..isn't that a bitch! I couldn't get any posts up yesterday. I have a new mouse now and it's loyal so far. I present you some interesting images below:

First off we have set pics from Guy Richie's, Sherlock Holmes. Things are are looking good here:

Robert Downey jr as Sherlock Holmes

Jude Law as Dr Watson

This next image is from a new comic book movie, Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass is about a teen who wants to fight crime due to being inspired by comic books. He's first attempt leads him to getting stabbed and then being hit by a car. After weeks of being in a hospital he attempts to fight crime again. This time he saves a man from getting a beat down. Someone catches it on there cellphone and uploads it to youtube. People across the web give him the name Kick-Ass!!! A set picture is below. We see a stunt man in the costume which looks accurate to the comic book.

Finally we have a Chung Li poster....I really don't give a crap for this film.

Thanks to themovieblog and filmgrenade for all these nice things.
